Viral Video: A video has been doing rounds on social media where a man, a spa owner can be seen thrashing, dragging and ripping off a woman’s clothes in Gujarat’s Ahmedabad. The police have confirmed that they’ve thoroughly examined the video footage and it seems to have been captured outside a spa located on the third floor of the Times Square commercial complex, Surat. The incident took place on September 25, however, the woman did not file any complaint against the accused for two days.
The matter came to light only when the video of the deeply disturbing incident went viral on social media. With assistance from a social worker, the Bodakdev police reached out to the woman and offered her counselling and support. Later, an FIR was registered against the accused identified as Mohsin, the owner of Galaxy Spa under Indian Penal Code (IPC) sections 354A, 294(b), 323.

“I co-owned a women’s salon with Mohsin, and a dispute arose on the 25th due to a loss of around Rs. 5000. I scolded a girl over this, which angered Mohsin. I questioned his close relationship with her, which triggered his violent reaction. As I was about to call the police (‘100’ emergency number), he forcefully took my phone, and since it had low battery, it switched off. I managed to escape to the road. Mohsin later apologized, and I forgave him, so I didn’t initially report the incident to the police. However, after the video went viral, the police became aware of the situation. I received numerous calls today. Although I wasn’t initially willing to file an FIR, everyone advised me that what happened to me today should not happen to anyone else in the future. I received support from many, despite being from the North East. Both the police and the media have stood by me, and I appreciate their support. I feel better now and thank everyone for their assistance,” stated the victim.
