Chandigarh: The Punjab Police busted a terror module being operated by Czech Republic based Gurdev Singh alias Jaisal. Police arrested three members of the module from Tarn Taran along with three pistols and ammunition.
Gurdev Jaisal, according to the police, is the kingpin of a gang of Canada-based terrorists Lakhbir alias Landa and Satbir Singh alias Satta, who are behind the Rocket Propelled Grenade (RPG) attack at police station Sarhali and targeted killings in the state.
Pistol and ammunition recovered
The apprehended persons have been identified as Ashampreet Singh r/o Noordi, Tarn Taran, Pradeep Singh and both Sukhman r/o Sherhali (Tarn Tarn). The police teams also recovered three pistols from the possession of the accused besides Rs.37500 in cash.
Three accused arrested
DGP Gaurav Yadav said that Tarn Taran police arrested the three accused during a joint operation with counter-intelligence after getting concrete information about Gurdev Jaisal preparing a new module to carry out terrorist activities in Majha region when he was plotting to commit the crime.
State peace and harmony
Sharing more details, SSP, Tarn Taran Gurmeet Singh Chauhan said that Jaisal, based in Czech Republic, was in touch with the module members and asked them to carry out terror activities and target killings to disturb the peace and harmony of the state. He used to give instructions over the phone.
Who is Gurdev Jaisal?
Canada-based gangster-turned-terrorist Lakhbir Singh Landa and Satbir Singh alias Satta’s close aide Gurdev Singh alias Jaisal are the masterminds of the December 2022 Rocket Propelled Grenade (RPG) attack on PS Sarhali Kalan in Tarn Taran district.
He fled to Dubai in 2022, after which he illegally moved to Europe. He has been helping terrorists Lakhbir Landa and Satbir Satta to carry out terrorist activities in Punjab with the help of his associates.
According to counter intelligence reports, when Gurdev Jaisal was in India earlier, he had procured a consignment of arms, IEDs, AK-47 rifles and narcotics at the behest of Lakhbir Landa.
