Mumbai, May 3, 2025 — The Kapoor family gathered in Mumbai on Friday to pay their final respects to Nirmal Kapoor, the family matriarch, who passed away on May 2 at the age of 90. She breathed her last at Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital around 5:25 PM, after battling age-related health complications.
On the morning of May 3, the family’s residence turned into a somber space of remembrance and prayer. Sons Anil Kapoor and Boney Kapoor arrived early, solemn and grief-stricken, as they joined close family members in mourning the loss of their beloved mother.
Several members of the younger generation came to honor their grandmother’s memory, including Arjun Kapoor, Sonam Kapoor, Shanaya Kapoor, Khushi Kapoor, and Rhea Kapoor, who was accompanied by her husband, Karan Boolani. Harsh Varrdhan Kapoor and Anshula Kapoor were also present, standing by their family through the difficult day.
Nirmal Kapoor was the widow of filmmaker Surinder Kapoor and the matriarch of one of Bollywood’s most prominent families. Her passing marks the end of an era for the Kapoor household, and her legacy will continue to live on through her children and grandchildren, many of whom have carried the family name forward in the film industry.
A prayer meet is expected to be held in the coming days as friends, colleagues, and members of the film fraternity join the Kapoors in mourning.
