Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan etched their names into T20 history with an extraordinary unbeaten opening stand of 205 runs, marking only the second time a team has successfully chased a 200+ target without losing a single wicket in T20s. This rare feat mirrors Pakistan’s 203* run chase by Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan in 2022 against England.
In the IPL, such dominance is even rarer. The previous highest 10-wicket chase came in 2017, when Chris Lynn and Gautam Gambhir powered KKR to a 184-run target against Gujarat Lions. Gill and Sudharsan have now elevated that record with their chase, setting a new IPL benchmark.
This isn’t the duo’s first foray into the 200+ territory. Their partnership of 210 against CSK last year was already historic. With two double-century stands now to their name, they join elite company—only AB de Villiers and Virat Kohli have done the same, both while playing for RCB.
Their recent stand also marked just the third time an IPL opening pair has crossed the 200-run mark. The other duo to achieve that is KL Rahul and Quinton de Kock, who posted 210* for LSG against KKR in 2022.
Across 30 innings together, Gill and Sudharsan have racked up seven century partnerships. Only two other IPL pairs have surpassed that: De Villiers and Kohli (10 in 76 innings) and Gayle with Kohli (9 in 59 innings). In IPL 2025 alone, the Gill-Sudharsan duo has accumulated 839 partnership runs, the most ever by an Indian pair in a single season and the fourth-highest overall. They surpassed the previous best Indian tally of 744 runs by Shikhar Dhawan and Prithvi Shaw in 2021.
Delhi Capitals felt the full force of their dominance. Gujarat Titans chased down 200+ targets twice against them this season—first with 204 in Ahmedabad, and now again. Until IPL 2025, Delhi had never lost when setting a target over 200. That streak is over.
Adding to the record-breaking night, only three wickets fell in total during the match—none for the Titans and just three for the Capitals. It was the lowest wicket tally in a completed IPL game, surpassing the previous record of four wickets lost, which had occurred seven times before.
Meanwhile, KL Rahul continued to etch his legacy in IPL history. With five centuries to his name, he’s now fourth on the all-time list behind Kohli (8), Buttler (7), and Gayle (6). Rahul also became the first player to notch IPL hundreds for three different franchises—Punjab Kings, Lucknow Super Giants, and now his latest team.
